Eldora Fitzsimmons

Eldora holds an MS in Social Work from The University of Tennessee, a BA in Sociology from the College of New Jersey and AA in Education from Bucks County (PA) Community College.

While in private practice in both Weaverville, NC and Knoxville, TN, Ms. Fitzsimmons specialized in the treatment of teen pregnancy, families at risk of entering state custody and reunification of families, physical and sexual abuse issues. She also treated clients with depression and handled crisis intervention and mental health stabilization. Marital counseling and career counseling were among the additional services Eldora provided to her clients.

In her role as a Social Worker at John Tarlton Home in Knoxville, she provided case management of older adolescents in foster care. Eldora also served as liaison between child and school, court and natural family. She conducted individual and group therapy addressing issues of abandonment, sex abuse, chemical dependency, anger management and depression. While in that role, Eldora served as an educator on alcohol and drug awareness and sexual development issues. She also conducted family counseling sessions leading to reunification and/or family role clarification and worked with dysfunctional families dealing with chemical dependency issues as well as issues of neglect, abuse and poverty.

The American Red Cross has called upon Ms. Fitzsimmons to provide on-location mental health counseling for disaster victims.

Ms. Fitzsimmons is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, The Tennessee Council of Social Workers and the Tennessee Society for Clinical Social Work.
